Uttar Pradesh MLC polls: BJP, SP win one seat every
The ruling BJP and the Samajwadi Get together bagged one seat every within the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council election to the Graduates’ constituencies on Saturday. Counting is underway within the remaining three constituencies. BJP candidate Manvendra Pratap Singh ‘Guru Ji’ received the Agra Division Graduates’ seat, whereas SP’s Man Singh Yadav received from the Allahabad-Jhansi Division Graduates’ seat, an election official mentioned.
In the meantime, UP’s Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla instructed PTI, the counting is underway in Graduates’ constituencies of Varanasi, Lucknow and Meerut.
Polling was held on Tuesday for 11 seats — 5 reserved for graduates and 6 for lecturers.
BJP, SP, Congress and lecturers’ associations contested the polls, with 199 candidates within the fray. The time period of workplace of the MLCs from these constituencies expired on Might 6.
Within the Lecturers’ constituencies, the ruling BJP received three seats whereas the Samajwadi Get together bagged two on Friday.
At current, SP has 52 MLCs within the 100-member UP Legislative Council, adopted by BJP which has 19. BSP has eight MLCs, Congress two, Apna Dal (Sonelal) and Shiksha Dal have one every. There are three independents and 14 seats are vacant.
