Military rescues 447 vacationers in Nathu-La after snowstorm

The military has rescued 447 vacationers caught at snow-bound Nathu-La close to the India-China border in Sikkim following a snowstorm, defence officers mentioned on Friday. Defence spokesman Lt. Col. P. Khongsai instructed IANS that troopers in immediate motion rescued the 447 vacationers from the excessive reaches of Nathu La close to the India-China border following sudden heavy snowfall on Thursday.

He mentioned that the vacationers in 155 autos have been caught on the Nathu La-Gangtok street following a extreme snowstorm and sub-zero temperatures.

“The vacationers have been stranded over a 15 km stretch and began skidding after the snowstorm. The travellers have been rescued in military autos and accommodated contained in the barracks of the 17-Mile army camp. All vacationers have been supplied lodging whereas 26 needed to be hospitalised after they required crucial medical assist. There have been no main accidents or casualties,” the defence official mentioned.

Khongsai mentioned that the courageous hearts of the Indian Military regardless of very antagonistic climate and hostile circumstances rescued vacationers and supplied lodging, meals and medical assist.

Nathu La (which means “listening ears”), in East Sikkim district, is among the highest motorable roads on the earth. It’s a mountain go within the Himalayan peaks located on the Indo-Tibetan border 14,450 toes above sea stage.
