Recent snowfall lashed greater reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Saturday, which led to the closure of Srinagar-Leh highway for visitors, whereas the plains had been lashed by rains, officers stated. Many areas within the greater reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, together with the well-known ski-resort of Gulmarg, north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, and the vacationer resort of Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district obtained snowfall which was happening when final stories got here in, the officers stated.
They stated there have been stories of snowfall from different areas within the greater reaches, together with Gurez in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, apart from in Zojila Cross and Drass (in Ladakh UT).
They stated as a result of snowfall, authorities closed the Srinagar-Leh highway, which passes by means of Zojila move and connects Jammu and Kashmir with Ladakh union territory, for visitors.
“The highway has been closed for visitors as a precautionary measure within the wake of snowfall,” the officers stated.
In the meantime, many of the areas within the plains of the Kashmir valley obtained rains, bringing down the temperature.
The MET Workplace has stated there shall be a rise in precipitation in the course of the subsequent two days with the height round Saturday evening and Sunday.
The climate is probably going to enhance considerably thereafter, it stated.
