Former MP CM Kamal Nath calls BJP chief Imarti Devi ‘merchandise’; BJP hits again 

Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Kamal Nath has mocked ex-Cupboard minister Imarti Devi, referring to her as an ‘merchandise’, stirring controversy forward of state by-polls. Nath made the assertion on Imarti Devi whereas campaigning for the Congress candidate towards her in Dabra.  Addressing a rally in Dabra, Kamal Nath may be heard saying, “Our candidate just isn’t like her… what’s her title? (individuals shout Imarti Devi, who’s former State Minister) You realize her higher and may have warned me earlier… ye kya merchandise hai.”


The apparently sexist comment of the Congress veteran got here a few days after Devi accused him of bribing the MLAs when he was the Chief Minister. The previous state minister, who switched ranks to the BJP after Jyotiraditya Scindia’s rebel, had informed reporters on Thursday that Nath used to pay “Rs 5 lakh” to Congress MLAs who couldn’t be granted ministerial posts.

Imarti Devi filed her nomination from Dabra on Thursday for the upcoming by-election to the Madhya Pradesh Meeting. The State meeting’s 28 seats will go to by-polls on November three and relying on November 10.  

BJP hits again Kamla Nath’s sexist remark

Reacting to the controversy, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan condemned Kamal Nath’s ‘feudal’ mindset, stating that Imarti Devi was the title of a poor farmer’s daughter, who had risen up on her personal. Recalling Congress’  ‘bhookha-nanga’ jibe for Chouhan, the CM stated it was evident how ‘feudal’ Congress was.

Equally, BJP MP chief VD Sharma bristled saying, ” Kamal Nath, you’ve gotten insulted the ladies of Madhya Pradesh and never simply Imarti Devi. Katrina Kaif would be the merchandise for you, Imarti Devi is our sister.”
