There shall be a ban on conducting and telecasting exit polls on the Bihar meeting elections from 7 am on October 28 until 6.30 pm on November 7, the Election Fee on Monday mentioned. Based on an October three notification of the ballot panel, “displaying” any election matter, together with outcomes of any opinion ballot or some other ballot survey, in any digital media could be prohibited “through the interval of 48 hours ending with the hours mounted for conclusion of ballot within the respective polling areas in every section” of the state meeting polls.
Citing the Illustration of the Individuals Act, the EC mentioned “the interval between 7:00 AM on October 28, 2020 (Wednesday) and 6.30 PM on November 7, 2020 (Saturday) is the interval throughout which conducting any exit ballot and publishing or publicising by the use of the print or digital media or dissemination in some other method in anyway, the results of any exit ballot in reference to the above talked about Common Election to the State Legislative Meeting of Bihar, shall be prohibited.”
Bihar goes to meeting polls in three phases on October 28, November three and November 7. The outcomes shall be introduced on November 10.
