10 states affirm fowl flu outbreak in poultry

The Centre on Saturday mentioned that the outbreak of fowl flu in poultry birds has been confirmed in 10 states, whereas 13 states have reported the illness in crows, migratory and wild birds. Kerala, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Jammu & Kashmir have confirmed the outbreak of avian influenza in poultry birds, whereas Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Bihar have reported the fowl flu in crows, migratory and wild birds.

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur, the outbreak of avian influenza has been confirmed in a home fowl. In addition to, Himachal’s Hamirpur district confirmed the fowl flu in crows, and in Bihar’s West Champaran district the illness was present in a peacock, mentioned the Division of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD) in a press release.

Management and Containment Operations (Cleansing and Disinfection) are occurring within the affected epicentres of Haryana, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, the assertion added.

Surveillance work is underway at locations which have confirmed optimistic ends in species of birds excluding poultry.

Compensation is being paid to farmers whose poultry birds, eggs and poultry feed are culled or disposed of by the state as per the motion plan.

The DAHD is being reported by all of the states on a regular basis concerning the management measures adopted on the revised motion plan for prevention, management and containment of the fowl flu.
